The Explorer Mini is a developmentally inspired power mobility device designed to support early childhood milestones by encouraging self-initiated movement for children with mobility impairments.

Developmentally Inspired Seating

Its intuitive design features an integrated table and backrest that provide support while allowing freedom of movement. The adjustable saddle seat promotes healthy hip development and supports functional sitting, or can be removed to enable progressive standing activities.

Exploration Made Easy

Lightweight and easy to transport, the Explorer Mini enables children to explore their world with confidence. At a fraction of the weight of a traditional power wheelchair, it allows families to easily take it wherever they go—supporting exploration and learning in both home and community environments.

Supporting On-Time Development

A midline proportional joystick with a bright yellow ball handle promotes visual development, reaching, grasp and release, and bilateral upper limb use. It also provides rich sensory input, supporting motor learning in very young children.

Independence Through Exploration

The Explorer Mini is a regulatory-cleared powered mobility solution designed to encourage self-initiated movement and early exploration for young children aged 12–36 months with mobility impairments. Developed to support early development, the Explorer Mini features an ergonomic design with multiple weight-bearing surfaces to promote safe, stable upright postures while creating opportunities to build strength, endurance and postural control.

The Importance of On-Time Mobility

A young child’s ability to explore their environment plays a critical role in the development of cognitive, social, emotional and spatial skills. When typical mobility milestones are delayed, opportunities for interaction, independence and environmental control can be significantly reduced.

At Permobil, we aim to support on-time development by enabling children to move, explore and engage with their world. The Explorer Mini is designed to help restore these opportunities, empowering young children to take an active role in their own growth and discovery.

Warranty: limited lifetime warranty on frame, bogie and trailing arms and forks, twelve (12) months warranty on all other components

Lead Time: 8 to 10 weeks; 4 weeks lead time for QuickShip orders

Service/Maintenance: Astris PME advise that a service/maintenance check takes place twice a year to ensure that the equipment maintains optimal working condition. This is an approximate annual cost of $700.00 (excluding GST). This includes technician callout and one (1) hour of labour per service.
