Bariatric seating presents unique clinical challenges. Excess soft tissue can make it difficult to achieve a neutral pelvic position, impacting spinal alignment and comfort. For this reason, ensuring proper pressure distribution, moisture and heat management, and overall postural support is essential.

Many users also experience a pronounced gluteal shelf, which can prevent contact with the back support and contribute to discomfort or back pain. Addressing and accommodating this posterior contour is a key part of the XLella design philosophy.

The XLella bariatric seating range includes both back supports and cushions, offered in widths from 22” through to 28”, with custom options available up to 32”.

All XLella back supports provide a ready-made solution with built-in adjustability to suit changing requirements. The range features three models — XLella Vigour, XLella Classic, and XLella² — each developed to meet different body shapes and clinical needs. Every model is transport certified and engineered to safely support users up to 300 kg.
